for blog’s sake…
i was outlining recently for action figures readers (and for folks in my family who’d asked for the info) where i was finding solid information about iraq and the continuing u.s. war in the middle east. and now there’s a few more (that i’m going to add to the sidebar, but haven’t yet) which i’m reading to better understand and cope with the insanity that the government is perpetrating against the people at home and around the world:
bonus, there’s also this amazing collection of planet-wide march photos.

peep the photos. it will take a second to load, but it’s so worth it. i especially liked how the zurich marchers have spelled “love” in the middle of “revolution” — and how the sao paolo marchers had signs with bush with a hitler-mustache. (it’s sad too, cuz bush is so much worse, so much more strategically effective at bringing and fostering long-term misery and systemic domination than hitler ever was.)

and this new york times piece (free reg required) is interestging- a rather deep look into islamic fundamentalism. but i got that link from my very conservative uncle, who didn’t say anything more than “it helps in trying to understand the mindset of the extremist Muslims.” ergs. that is SO what this war is not about. errrgs.

yes, and i know i could get lots of flack comparing bush to hitler, from radical jews, from holucaust survivors, from lots of people. and in a certain sense it’s an empty comparison, such different times, different contexts. but i just happen to believe (and i think for good reason but if someone tried real hard they could potentially convince me otherwise) that hitler was engaged in a particular political project which was rooted in a very specific form of racial hatred peculiar to that explicit branch of puritanical state “socialism”, while bush, though occaisonaly appearing quite dense, has actually posititoned himself quite strategically at the apex of a very powerful geopolitical machine whose goals are far more deeply rooted in more reactionary fear and a more pan-racial hatred, on a global scale, than hitler, in his time, could have imagined. but really, in many ways, it’s the same project, with a new venue and much better PR. “we” (not really we, but reagan, bush 1, bush 2, and the central intelligence agency) MADE the creeps who are oppressing people in middle east countries. we/they purchased that bulldozer, we/they installed that system, we/they set up that extrimist band. enough for now. i’m going to go answer some prison activist networking emails, then watch buffy. errrrgs. good night.
